Bolera is one of 3 mules
currently at our Nerja sanctuary. Bolera survived a
series of operations and happily now has a new lease of
life. During the day she is kept in a pen on her own as
she likes to throw her weight around and push the other
animals out of the way. |

Buster
has been with as at the
sanctuary for all of his life and is the top dog here.
He would make a wonderful guard dog and needs a loving
home. |

Henrietta
is very popular with visitors she can often be found
sleeping in the hay or in her wallow. She was rescued
locally from a cramped pen with barely enough room to
turn. Pig experts have confirmed our diagnosis that she
is suffering from depression and needs a lot of TLC to
get her back to good health and a happy state of mind.
Henrietta has settled in well and is really enjoying her
free-range lifestyle here at the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary. |

Janice will stay at the
sanctuary for the rest of her life as she feels so happy
and safe she won't even leave the sanctuary gates for a
walk. |

Paloma
(Dove) is 19 and one of our two mules. She lived
very high up in the Alpujarra mountains until May 2005
when the mountain track she was on collapsed and she
fell over 100 metres down the mountain side. Our rescue
team took over 18 hours to rescue her, aside from her
injuries we thought the shock alone might kill her. The
picture shows her sitting up after 3 days and nights
lying in a collapsed and distressed state. |

Silver was owned by gypsies who
started riding him when he was just 6 months old, his
back is horribly deformed as a result of this cruelty. |
