Who we are... and why we need your help!

The Nerja Donkey Sanctuary is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and protecting donkeys, mules and horses.

Since opening in June 2004 we have rescued hundreds of equines, cared for them and then moved them on to safe new homes, where possible. Along the way we also have given refuge to many other farmyard animals: countless goats, pigs, chickens, cats, turkeys and even sheep.

We rely entirely on donations from the public and we receive no grants from the government.
